5 of the Best Time-Saving IT Tips

August 29, 2018/in blog/by multipage

Time is precious.

Think about how many hours you waste dealing with annoying technical issues.

Now, imagine how you could use this time doing other things. If you want to optimize productivity in your workplace, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are 5 technology time-saving tips that you need to incorporate into your business model.

1. Use More Video Conferencing

Meetings take up a lot of time – 15% of an organization’s collective time is spent in meetings. To improve both meeting attendance, productivity, and efficiency, you can turn to video conferencing.

Video conferencing allows you to connect to your fellow attendees with a press of a few buttons. You can share files and talk face-to-face without needing to spend much time preparing.

Aside from just saving time, video conferencing cuts down on travel costs while allowing you to maintain your relationships better than ever before.

2. Remove Old Software

Waiting forever for your computer to boot up and shut down is just a waste of time, especially if you have a business to run. If you have loads of software on your system, this could be the reason why it’s taking so long to load.

If you’re using a Windows PC, head over to the Control Panel and uninstall all the programs you no longer need. This might include outdated software that you downloaded years ago that still runs in the background, sapping valuable computer resources.

“Removing unnecessary programs is one of the biggest steps towards improving your computer’s performance.,” says Instructables. “These programs can be unused, unnecessary, or potentially damaging to your system performance.”

3. Create More Shortcuts

Searching for a certain piece of software can sometimes take a while.

It’s a good idea to create shortcuts for your most-used programs. You can keep all of your favorite applications in one place — perfect if you need to access these programs quickly. Be sure to keep icons either on the desktop or in your toolbar for seamless access.

You can also bookmark your favorite websites on your internet browser so you can access them quickly.

4. Use Voice Search

Many businesses are using voice search to find services on the internet.

You might have a voice search assistant already built into your laptop, desktop or mobile device — like Cortana on Microsoft devices, for example.

Use this technology to find information quickly.

“Applications of voice search include making search engine queries, clarifying specifics of the request, requesting specific information, such as a stock quote or sports score and launching programs and selecting options,” says TechTarget.

5. Search the Internet From Your Address Bar

Here’s something you might not know about.

Most internet browsers let you search the internet directly from your address bar, so you don’t need to head to your favorite search engine every time you need information.

Give it a try and see for yourself. Just enter a search term in the address bar and find the information you are looking for.

“When you type in the address bar, you will see search suggestions coming from your default search engine to help you find the right keywords for your intended search,” says Firefox.
